WORK-ART-INSTAGRAMERS ON MOLESKINE.
I chose the selfies from Instagram as my topic in May 2014.
The initial version was purely using red lead on Moleskine, each piece took around 20-30mins, after drew over 10 pieces in a week, I thought it’s time to make a change, therefore slight adjustments were taken on materials, background, the way to draw, it comes up the version currently published – Instagrammers on Moleskine Series 2.
Instagrammer on Moleskine Series 2 is using the interface of Instagram as the background, and the portrait as the theme, realism as the style in order to showcase our era and bit by bit of human lives; for example people making face on their selfies or take memorable pictures with our beloved.
Every Instagrammer who is being drawn, we met in this Instagram platform, never have met in person. Among all Instagrammers, the last one in this series the longest time spent.
Marta contacted me in late May, wishing I could help her draw a photo of her and her boyfriend, I am not keen on drawing those traditional style of photo. Before I was going to refuse Marta, she told me their love story.
Her boyfriend and her met in High School, and now they further their studies to different universities which takes few hour drive distance, now they only can meet each other once a week. This simple love story touches my heart, it is also because I had the similar experience when I was a student.
The drawing theme is “Kissing”, the guy from his own Instagram frame is leaning forward to his girlfriend’s frame to kiss her, this kiss was taken before Marta attended the Prom. It is finally named as “Intimate Bond in Hundred of Miles” as a closure of this series.
